Inside Spain and Portugal

Another National Geographic Expedition (NGE), this time through Moorish Spain and Portugal. The NGE name is somewhat misleading as it only concentrates on a small portion of the Iberian peninsular but that said it was a very packed agenda. Visits to a number of UNESCO World Heritage sites, museums, and many fine lunches and dinners!
The tour commenced in Lisbon and I arrived a day early which allowed me to do a little more sightseeing on my own before joining the rest of the small group. We then travelled to Sintra, Setúbal and Évora in Portugal before crossing into Spain at the Roman city of Mérida. Onwards to Sevilla, with a visit to the Reales Alcázares and an excellent Flamenco performance at the Museum of Flamenco. Continuing on towards Grenada we visited the Bullring in Ronda. The last two stops before our arrival in Madrid were Granada, in order to visit the Alhambra, and Córdoba for the Mezquita.
